J. S. Eryndor | Dutch Fantasy & Fiction Author
J. S. Eryndor
The Author Behind the Worlds
J. S. Eryndor is a Dutch author of fantasy and fiction, originally from Drenthe in the Netherlands. He is best known for The World of Eryndor — The Chronicles of Aeterna, a four-book fantasy series exploring hidden worlds, ancient mysteries and the consequences of human choices.
Alongside his fantasy writing, Eryndor has written standalone novels that explore loss, memory, friendship and the complexities of human existence.
The author deliberately maintains a life away from the public eye. His stories take centre stage, rather than the person behind his pen name.
The Origins of J. S. Eryndor
The literary journey of J. S. Eryndor began in 1992, when the young Dutch writer published his first fantasy work, The World of Eryndor, at the age of fifteen.
Now 49 years old, the left-handed author has a literary history spanning more than three decades.
As a teenager, he created an imaginary world filled with extraordinary places, forgotten civilisations and characters whose destinies were closely intertwined.
However, a major breakthrough never came. At the time, the story attracted little attention, and the recognition the young author had hoped for failed to materialise.
Yet the world he had created never truly left him.
A Life Beyond Literary Recognition
In the years that followed, J. S. Eryndor faded from public attention.
He built an ordinary life, with everyday responsibilities that left little room for literary recognition.
His passion for writing, however, remained.
New stories, manuscripts and ideas continued to accumulate. His original fantasy world evolved, while other stories emerged, exploring human relationships, grief, friendship and personal choices.
Writing remained an important part of his identity, even when his work reached no wider audience.
2018 — A New Direction
In 2018, an important new chapter began in the literary career of J. S. Eryndor.
Eryndor came into contact with the people behind the publishing project that would later become Eryndor Publishing.
The considerable collection of manuscripts and the diversity of his stories provided the foundation for a long-term collaboration.
Those involved decided to focus their literary activities entirely on the work of J. S. Eryndor, recognising the potential of his existing manuscripts and the worlds he had spent years developing.
The story Her Name Was Isa, an emotional work exploring friendship, loss and the consequences of human choices, marked the beginning of this new chapter.
What followed was a period of extensive rewriting, editorial development and preparation.
Throughout these years, his original fantasy world remained one of his most important creative projects.
2026 — The Return of The World of Eryndor
In 2026, the development of his work reached an important milestone.
Through the independent Dutch publishing house Eryndor Publishing, The World of Eryndor — The Chronicles of Aeterna was released as a four-book fantasy series.
The series consists of:
- The City Without Time
- The Shadow of the Breach
- Farewell, Kael
- The Fourth Bearer
Together, these books tell an expansive fantasy story centred on the hidden world of Aeterna, its ancient past and the characters whose actions will shape its future.
The four novels represent the return and extensive redevelopment of the fantasy world Eryndor first introduced in 1992.
More than three decades after its original publication, his earliest literary creation found a new beginning and a new generation of readers.
An Author Across Multiple Genres
J. S. Eryndor’s writing is not limited to fantasy.
Through novels such as The House at the End of the World, I Have Brought You This Far and Her Name Was Isa, he explores subjects more closely connected to everyday human experience.
His stories frequently examine memory, grief, family relationships and difficult decisions.
He also develops fantasy stories for younger readers, including The Wrong Crown, the first book in the series A Prince Against His Will.
Although his works span different genres, they share a common foundation: human choices and the lasting consequences they leave behind.
The Writer Behind the Pen Name
Little is deliberately shared about the private life of J. S. Eryndor.
The author chooses to keep his personal identity away from public attention, allowing his work to speak for itself.
His books form his public presence. His characters, stories and imaginary worlds are the means through which readers come to know him.
For Eryndor, the stories have always mattered more than personal recognition.
