At Eryndor Publishing, work is currently underway on a new series by J.S. Eryndor: WILDHART. An adventurous fantasy series in which extraordinary creatures, travel, friendship, rivalry and competition come together in the world of Orvella.

The first episode, WILDHART – The Boy Who Wasn’t Chosen, will be released on Monday, 7 December 2026.

With WILDHART, we aim to build a series that readers can follow for a long time. Our current ambition is to release approximately twenty episodes, allowing the world, characters and different wildhearts to develop gradually over time.

A new world: Orvella

WILDHART takes place in Orvella, a world of waterways, forests, windswept plains, old roads, workshops and cities that have adapted their daily lives to the extraordinary animals living around them.

These animals are known as wildhearts.

Every species has its own behaviour, habitat and abilities. Some can assist in rescue work, others during travel, repairs or competitions. But wildhearts are not tools that simply obey. They have their own will, boundaries and preferences.

That idea forms an important part of the series.

A bond between a human and a wildheart can only form when both choose it freely.

Nilo and Raf

At the centre of the story is Nilo, who works at The Open Barn, a refuge for injured, elderly and abandoned wildhearts.

He often understands animals more easily than people and dreams of one day taking part in the Wild Trials. His older brother Eren has already achieved the kind of success within that competitive world that Nilo still hopes to reach.

But on Bonding Day, things do not go as he hoped.

While new bonds form all around him, not a single wildheart chooses Nilo.

Later that same evening, everything changes.

Inside the storehouse, he discovers a small, dark, rough-coated creature trying to steal food. It bites him, attempts to free another wildheart from its enclosure and turns out to be hunted by someone.

His name becomes Raf.

Nilo gives him the chance to disappear.

Raf leaves.

And then chooses to come back.

That moment marks the beginning of their bond — and of WILDHART.

More than competition

The Wild Trials will play an important role throughout the series. Participants travel across Orvella, complete assignments, compete in trials and gradually learn how to work more effectively with their wildhearts.

But WILDHART is not simply about winning.

Nilo gains friends, rivals and opponents. He discovers that the competitive world in which his brother became famous is far more complicated than he once believed. At the same time, it becomes clear that Raf himself carries something unusual.

Why was he being hunted?

Why does an old notice warn against direct contact?

And why does the bond between Nilo and Raf look different from other bonds?

Those questions form the beginning of a much larger story that will gradually unfold throughout the series.

A growing cast of characters and wildhearts

During his journey, Nilo meets Tobin, a young repairer who becomes one of his closest friends, and Mira, an ambitious competitor in the Wild Trials.

More and more different wildhearts will also appear, each with its own recognisable personality and abilities.

From Raf’s rare species to glidebirds, stormstags, prism foxes and small armoured scrapbacks, the world of Orvella has been created to keep expanding across multiple episodes.

Not every creature exists for battle. Their abilities also play a role in travel, rescue work, craftsmanship and everyday life.

We are aiming for twenty episodes

WILDHART is deliberately being developed as an episodic series.

We are currently aiming for approximately twenty episodes. This gives characters and relationships time to develop, while each episode can still contain its own adventure.

New regions of Orvella can be explored, new wildhearts introduced and existing conflicts gradually developed.

The first episode is, above all, the beginning.

Readers meet Nilo before his journey truly starts and get to know Raf before it becomes clear why this small wildheart matters so much.

WILDHART begins on 7 December 2026

WILDHART – The Boy Who Wasn’t Chosen will be released on Monday, 7 December 2026.

The first episode introduces Nilo, Raf, The Open Barn, Bonding Day and the first clues surrounding the larger mystery behind Raf.

From there, the journey through Orvella begins.
